Monday Makes & Finds: The Cottagecore Blouse

Real, puffed sleeves Marilla!  Ok, maybe not quite Anne of Green Gables, puffed, but still lovely & flouncy & summery & they make me very happy.

This is the pattern I used: Butterick B6733, version B.  I put buttons on the sleeve cuffs instead of ties and didn't make a belt--partly because I bought the fabric before I had a plan in mind and I had to get a little creative to cut everything out of my existing yardage.

As much as these puffed sleeves fulfill my girlie, flouncy dreams, the pattern was a challenge to fit.  There is no top shoulder seam and the bodice was at least 2 inches too big across the top of the chest.

Also, on the side bodice, instead of darts for fitting there are gathers.  This does give ease in the chest, but it also leaves a weird blousiness in the front that isn't entirely flattering.

I'd love to hear if you have attempted this pattern and what you thought.  Until then, Jack suggests this classic by Peggy Lee.
Have a lovely Monday!
