The Best Laid Plans

Week 5

 

So, this week did not go to plan.  I had a brilliant menu planned, packed with fresh foods, using recipes taken from some of my favorite blogs and cookbooks. . .

and then the air conditioner died and the temperature soared and I decided that I needed to use the stove as little as possible and the oven not at all. 

This ^^ was very much a #mood this week.
Now the air-conditioning is fixed (for which we are incredibly grateful) and so I will regroup and try again next week.  Until then, here is my low/no heat menu.

Hot Weather Menu (8/31--9/6)

M--sandwiches with Italian cold cuts & watermelon

It isn't very exciting, but with no a/c and repairmen in and out of the house until late, it was just what the Dr. ordered. 

T--Del Taco.  Don't judge me.  It was delicious.  I regret nothing.

W--Roasted leg of lamb, white beans in a tomato ragu, brussel sprouts, & a German cake w/ nectarines in honor of Ama's 94th birthday.

 R--Salad: cucumber, radish, dill, & potatoes (from Smitten Kitchen) over leafy greens

F--Tortellini Soup & Muffaletta Sammies

Sat.--Taco Salad (vegetarian) w/ queso fresca & pinto beans

Sun.--Shakshuka/Eggs in Purgatory w/ brown rice
