Wardrobe Planning: Costume College

So, it's been a hot minute.

As soon as the school year started up, everything else came to a crashing halt. However, I'm finally on Spring Break & it's time to start planning (& sewing) for Costume College.

This year, for the first time in a long time (not even counting the pandemic) I am staying at the hotel and doing ALL THE THINGS.

So let's start with the themes:

Wednesday I'll be there early to volunteer with set up. For cocktails afterward, I'd like something 1920s themed.

Thursday's "Pool Party" is themed Apocalypse WOW: if I can fit them, I'll wear my hbts. Maybe I'll buy a green t-shirt.

I've volunteered to work Friday's Social. Inspired by The Closet Historian, I'm going to make a 1940s dress in a Star Trek theme--gold for ops, naturally.  (Next Gen., not original)

The inspiration:

The fabric: rayon challis
The pattern:
To be adapted.  Minus the jabot, draft an asymmetrical slit in the bodice, narrow the skirt. . . it should be doable.

Saturday's Gala is Titanic themed. So Edwardian it is. This will require it's own post, as I have never *actually made an Edwardian gown. . . though I saw a friend drape one once and, even though she has decades of experience, I'm pretty sure I can do it too.  Pray for me and my hot mess of a dress.
Something like this:
Out of this:

Sunday Breakfast--I have planned an 1890s-style wrapper. We'll see if that materializes.
Sunday's Tea is themed: Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. I have exactly 1 Regency dress. I will fix the closure & wear that.  New shoes have been purchased.

For attending classes & such I would like to bring a 1930s Hooverette-style dress (as yet unmade), a 1940s Western-style shirt dress (unmade), possibly a 1940s-sytle dress (*sigh* unmade), 1930s skirt (done!), t-shirts & jeans.

I think I need a nap.
