Cocktail Roundup: 4 Hot Weather Cocktails for June

Here's a quick re-cap of cocktails & recipes I've been enjoying this spring:

Rose Kennedy

2parts vodka
3parts sparkling water
Splash cranberry juice

I'm not usually a vodka drinker, but this was lovely and refreshing.  I may put this into my regular rotation.  I foresee a lot of ice and sparkling something drinks in the near future.

Singapore Sling

We tried to keep as close to the original Raffles Hotel recipe as we could.  I still love the history behind this one: basically it was created so that ladies could *also have a cocktail in the hotel lounge, while appearing to simply be drinking fruit juice.  That man was a hero & a genius--breaking down gender boundaries and creating a delicious, lush pink drink that packs a wollop.

1 1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz cherry liquor
1/4 oz benedictine
4 oz pineapple juice
1/3 oz (a splash) grenedine
1 dash bitters
Garnish with a slice of pineapple & a cherry.

Pineapple Express Punch

Aaaaaaaand, the tiki mugs have been unpacked for the season.  Pineapple is in the stores again and it's time to get my tiki on.  I've seen lots of similar cocktails under different names, but we chose to go with this one from the Gastronom Blog:

1 oz Dark Rum
1 oz Aged rum
.25 oz Amaretto
1 oz cherry brandy
.25 oz lemon juice
.25 oz lime juice
2 oz pineapple juice
3 dashes of Angostura bitters
 cherry for garnish

The Electric Sheep (aka, the Saphire Martini)

This one was to pair with watching Blade Runner.  They don't do much drinking in the movie, but I imagine something like this would be served in that version of Los Angeles (ahem.) It was set in the far-distant future of 2019.  I am still waiting for my flying car.

Recipe taken from The Spruce Eats:
2 dashes blue curacao
1 cap-full dry vermouth (just nod in the direction of France)
2 ounces chilled gin
Lemon twist for garnish.

To your good health!
