Monday Makes & Finds: The Engagement Ring

Disclaimer: we have been married for almost 6 years, so this is not a new "make."

When my husband told his parents that he intended to propose to me his mother gave him a pair of diamond earrings that she had been saving.  She told him to use them in rings for the two of us.
So technically, I had engagement earrings for a while. :)

The original idea was that we would each have a stone in our rings, but Mr. decided against it, so we had to find a ring design for me that could incorporate 2.

My thought had been a 1930s style "pillow" setting flanked by stones.
Something like these examples from my Pintrest board. Most often the smaller stones are emerald or sapphire (both lovely), but I decided on citrine, which is my birthstone.

Following the example of one of my awesome friends, we realised that the wedding band itself had to be custom-made as well, and stepped so that it would nestle properly.

And that is how we ended up with this beautiful final product: both vintage & modern.
