It has been a very hectic end of the school year. However, now all that is over and done with. All the May and June family birthdays and other festivities are behind me, and a summer crowded with events is before me. Somewhere in all this, I need to start prepping my wardrobe for Costume College and doing a few bits of practical sewing for summer and work wear.
I've been going out swing dancing and participating in vintage & costume events less and less in recent years, not because I don't still love it but, life has been changing and there has been less time and energy for it. For those reasons, my sewing has been less fun than practical: every vintage piece I make has had to do double-duty in my modern wardrobe. This season I'm focused on prepping a few blouses, a pair of 1940s-styled trousers, and a day dress to add to the collection.
So far, I have completed this:

So far, I have completed this:
I choose the simplest form of the blouse (McCall 7144), and lengthened the bodice by about 3 inches, so that I could wear it with modern jeans, vintage jeans & skirts. Not too shabby for a cheerful summer blouse/ work blouse.
